Day One Chair & Moderator: Mark Pesce

Mark Pesce is an inventor, writer, entrepreneur, educator and broadcaster.

Invited to deliver the opening keynote at SIBOS 2012 in Osaka, Pesce has worked with financial institutions ranging from Australia’s Suncorp to the World Bank, International Finance Corporation and SWIFT. As part of the 2014 G20 Summit on Financial Inclusion, Pesce keynoted the SME Finance Forum.

In 1994 Pesce co-invented VRML, a 3D interface to the World Wide Web, with Tony Parisi and Gavin Andresen, now chief scientist of the Bitcoin Foundation.

Pesce writes fortnightly a column for the internationally respected tech publication The Register, and for seven years was a panelist and judge on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s hit series The New Inventors, celebrating Australia’s newest inventions and inventors.

Pesce has written six books, including The Next Billion Seconds, which explores how connectivity amplifies human capacity, and The Playful World, which used toys such as Furby and Sony’s PlayStation to illuminate the interactive world of the 21st century.

As an educator, Pesce founded graduate programs in interactive media at both the University of Southern California’s world-famous Cinema School and the Australian Film, Radio and Television School. Pesce currently holds an appointment as Honorary Associate in the University of Sydney’s Digital Cultures Program.

In 2006, Pesce opened the doors of FutureSt, a Sydney consultancy dedicated to helping clients identify and benefit from the opportunities of connected business. Clients have included Lonely Planet, Amnesty International, Telstra, and Pearson Publishing.

Day Two Chair & Moderator: Glen Frost

Glen Frost is currently a member of the ADCCA Chairman’s Advisory Council on Digital Currencies.

Glen is currently an advisor to a number of FinTech startups, as well as a consultant to The Guardian, a global media publisher. Glen’s career has included stints with two global banks, Standard Chartered Bank in England, and Macquarie Bank in Australia. After running his own events and publication business for the past ten years, Glen recently sold the business to The Walkley Foundation.

Glen has qualifications in Banking (Institute of Bankers, England), Accounting (CIMA UK) and Economics (BA Hons, University of East Anglia, England).
